Another successful shopping trip today. Grocery shopping, that is. I can’t believe how much more time I spend in the produce section. It’s definitely different than it used to be. And the checkout line isn’t my enemy any more. I am not tempted by the candy that used to call to me as I waited in line. And I’m proud of myself.

It’s okay to be proud of yourself. Apparently, it’s a healthy thing. Not something that I’m used to, but I’m starting to come around. How about you? Are you taking time to reflect on all the good things you did today? This week?

Losing the fat and the pounds is only half the battle. If you’re big like me, if you are addicted to food like me, there’s an underlying reason. Most likely, it has something to do with how you feel about yourself. I certainly let negative feelings get to me sometimes.

I know I can’t stop myself from having negative feelings, but I can tell myself that it’s okay to be proud. Proud of a food choice I made right. Proud of a compliment I received. Proud of the sweat left on the floor after a hard workout. Proud of how good I look in those new clothes I got this weekend.

Start tonight by telling yourself you’re proud. And if you can’t think of something recently, at least be proud that you know that IT IS OK TO BE PROUD OF YOURSELF. I promise you’ll notice a difference the next time you have a hard choice to make at mealtime.
